Your Liver and guts
4. Fuel up with high octane
The fuel pump in a motorcycle serves a crucial role in delivering fuel to the engine for combustion. Similarly, the human body relies on the liver and the gut to manage and distribute nutrients essential for energy (fuel) production.
In a motorcycle, the pump draws fuel from the tank and sends it to the engine in a controlled manner, optimizing the combustion process. This is analogous to the digestive system in the human body, where the gut extracts nutrients from food and the liver regulates their distribution.
Just as the pump ensures that the right amount of fuel reaches the engine, the gut and liver collaborate to process and deliver nutrients, such as carbohydrates, fats, and proteins to various organs and tissues.
The liver acts as a central processing unit, regulating nutrient levels and detoxifying harmful substances before they reach the bloodstream. Both systems - the motorcycle and the human body - require good fuel quality and filtration.
Keep your fuel system clean
A healthy varied diet is of course essential for getting all the right ingredients to create the best fuel. Substances that affect or block up the filter will cause a drop in performance - this is where alcohol will not enhance performance but will have the opposite effect in large quantities.
Fatty, saturated and processed foods will also clog up the human fuel filter - your liver. Try running good fuel through your system for 6 months and see how much smoother your old classic runs.
Some useful additives for your Classic (classics over the age of 50 years may require optimised additives :-)
Vitamins: A, B6, B12, C, D & E
Minerals: Iodine (I), Potassium (K), Sodium (Na), Zinc (Zn) Selenium, Probiotics. Prebiotics, Fibre.
Read labels before taking and check with your doctor if required. Older classics may require different additives compared with newer models.
In short: use the best fuel available. High octane but not too much alcohol!! Keep that diet rich in fruit, vegetables, and a good mix of proteins and carbohydrates. Reduce fats, and saturated / processed food products. There will be more energy and zip to this classic now!
